NJ Supreme Court Issues Third Omnibus Order
UPDATE:NEW JERSEY SUPREME COURT ISSUES THIRD OMNIBUS ORDER REGARDING COURT OPERATIONS DURING THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY:
On March 27, 2020 and April 29, 2020, we wrote about the New Jersey Supreme Court's Omnibus Order and Second Omnibus Order relating to court functions and operations during the COVID-19 public health crisis/state of emergency.Under those orders, most filing deadlines, discovery deadlines and statutes of limitations that would have expired on or after March 16, 2020 were extended through May 10, 2020.
On May 28, 2020, the New Jersey Supreme Court issued a Third Omnibus Order regarding the status of court functions and operations as the public health crisis continues.Under the Third Omnibus Order, many court operations are resuming through the use of electronic means and virtual platforms, however, there are a few matters that remain tolled through June 14, 2020, including new jury trials, residential lockouts, landlord/tenant trials, and depositions and testimony of healthcare professionals providing COVID-19 services.In addition, the deadline to file a property tax appeal has been extended to June 14, 2020.
